Gill Aero 2.0 Zip Up Boots for Dinghy Sailing in Cold Weather

It is a cold morning in the dinghy park, your fingers have gone numb rigging the boat, and the last thing you want is a fight with wet laces. The Gill Aero 2.0 goes on with a single zip, then a wide strap over the ankle pulls it snug, so you are ready to launch while others are still kneeling on the slipway tying knots.

The 5mm double lined neoprene is a millimetre thicker than a 4mm boot, which counts when you are sitting through a start sequence with your feet in the water sloshing around the bottom of the boat. The sole has a medium stiffness, so it flexes as you cross the boat, kneel through a tack or walk up the beach, while still giving your feet enough support under the toestraps. A textured panel across the top of the foot grips the hiking strap.

It suits club sailors, crews and anyone who sails right through the colder months, from winter series racing to spring training. If you spend whole races hiking flat out, a stiffer soled boot will support you better, but for comfort, warmth and a quick change on the shore, the Aero 2.0 is the easier boot to live with.
